This book was good enough, I guess, but OMG! how boring! There is Love At First Sight at the very beginning of the book, so there's never any of the falling in love that I crave. It was automatic; 2 hot, butch, gorgeous guys fall for each other in 2 seconds, even though both of them aren't looking for anything serious. (SPOILERS) The only time there is a kink in their relationship is some silly plot point that you couldn't take seriously (who breaks up with their true love because they're going to be separated for 3 months???). And when they inevitably decide to have kids, do they adopt and save some kid who needs a home? Nooo. They choose surrogacy since, of course, children are only worthwhile when they share your DNA (that would be sarcasm, for those of you who missed it). And they don't only do it once, but twice (or was it 3 times? I lost track since by that time I didn't care). And did the author really have to throw in the rape of whats-his-names sister? Sure, it was non-graphic and in the past, but was that really necessary??? All in all, I'm dang glad I got it free because it's not something I could see myself ever reading again -- I had to force myself to get through it once.Product details

Love is Cassandra P Lewis 9781505400076 Books Reviews
The one thing I like about this romance is that the leads play no games and are straightforward in acknowledging their attraction for each other right from the start.
As for the rest...
There is a specific tone the best romances achieve and in my imagination it is similar to a high-quality sparkling wine.
Here the leads are not exactly likeable (I was very put off by the fact that one of them, a martial artist, hits his ex who, despite being an a****le, is not one) and the author spends much of her time judging people and situations instead of making them alive for her readers.
The end result tastes like oversweetened, flat soda.
I dropped it without finishing it.
I liked the author's style of writing, and I thought parts of the romance evolution were nice. I have "taken it slow" in a new relationship with much the same success. I liked the story and writing better than many other m/m romances written by a woman. The dialogue between the guys was believable/not overly feminine.
However, I like more reality to my stories. First - too perfect! The guys were beautiful, very successful in business, and had very accepting parents, siblings, and co-workers. Next, it sounded like they waited until their first night of passion to discuss/discover that they were both usually "tops." That discussion happens much, much sooner in real life!! Plus, 7 months into their relationship, thinking they found their soulmate, I thought their reaction to the 3 month, temporary job in the States was not realistic. "Packing it in" because "long distance relationships don't work" seemed fatalistic and knee-jerk when you think you have found your soulmate.
Thanks for letting me give what I hope is viewed as constructive criticism.
Pretty well written, except it seemed that around 70% the editing errors increased and things felt a bit more rushed. This book spans over several years of Rafe & Matthew’s relationship, with the final chapter/epilogue being about 20-some years into the future. The story alternates back & forth between Rafe and Matthew’s POVs. As for the characters themselves, I liked both Rafe and Matthew, but I didn’t like any of their female friends. Rosie & Pippa were aggravating pains who often acted like they didn’t have the sense God gave them, and Louise started out fine but then became selfish in the end. Everyone around them, except Matthew’s brother Michael, was extremely loving and accepting. Now one thing that did irk me a tiny bit was how Rafe & Matthew would talk about how they loved how masculine and manly the other was, but when it came to their conversations & interactions, they were often very soft and flowery. The dialogue was fairly basic, simple and mundane. There were a lot of times where the book fluctuated from past to present tense and back again, often very close together. There were also times where the characters might be in the middle of something, then in the very next sentence or paragraph – with no page break or separator – they would be in another place or scene. Example Rafe & Matthew are in their room, at home, talking about how they’re going to announce the baby during dinner at Rosie’s house, and the very next sentence has Rosie yelling out the window at the guys in the backyard. Did they travel via Star Trek Enterprise beam? Oh, and there was 1 particularly stupid plot point IMO (spoiler) when Jackson & Matthew got into a fight, Rosie took upon herself to go after the guy who started it, to do what exactly? This was the guy who had raped and beaten her, “then dumped her on her parents’ doorstep” when she was in high school. So what happens when she tries to be Wonder Woman but he almost does a re-enactment on her and she had to be saved by Rafe & Jackson.
In regards to everything else, on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best Character development – 4; Level of drama/trauma/angst – 2.5, with everything being 100% settled within a page or 2 (except for the relationship between Rosie & Michael); Sweet sappiness – varies from 3 to 5 throughout the book. Because of these last 2, the book at times feels like it’s 286 pages instead of 186. 286 isn’t bad if a book has a constant, steady hold on your attention the entire time. Basically, this is a pretty cut and dry, non-complicated, fairy tale type romance with 2 d**n near perfect MCs. If you’re good with all of this, then you’ll probably rate this a 4 or a 5.
Oh my; where to start? The dialogue was overly sweet and simplistic; also, it was underlined through the entire book, and it wasn't the . I checked, The action jumped back and forth, laid out like building blocks. There was no flow, the story was more like--"and then this happened, and then this happened after that" and so on. I told myself I was going to get through it just to see what happens, and I looked at my page counter, thinking I was halfway through the book at 50%, and--boom, twenty years in the future. The book was over. What?? At fifty percent? Ah, but no--the book started over--in italics, with the entire text scored through this time, instead of just being underlined. If I had paid for this book, I would have been livid--and I would have returned it. I'll sample other books, but I shall be veeeery cautious.
